Studio terms
These terms cover the Are You Faster Games Studio, run by Are You Faster CIC. They sit alongside the terms of use for the rest of the site. By making a Studio account you agree to them.
Who can have an account
- You need to be 18 or over, because the Studio lets people work together and talk about their games.
- One account per person, with an email address that is yours.
- Keep your password to yourself. Anything done with your account is treated as done by you.
Your board
- What you put on your board is yours. It is kept with your Studio account.
- Put only things you made, or have permission to use. Anything else, such as a picture of a game you like, mark as "just for ideas" so nobody copies it into your game.
- Do not put anyone's personal details on a board: no addresses, phone numbers, school names or photos of people.
- Nothing hateful, sexual, violent towards real people, or that could put someone at risk. The games on this site are for everyone, so the boards behind them are too.
Working together
- The person who starts a project owns it. They decide who joins, what each person can do, and can remove anyone from the project.
- Comments are seen only by the people on that project.
- You can leave a project at any time. What you added stays on its board.
- Be kind. Disagree with an idea, never with a person.
Contributor terms
These apply to everything you add to someone else's board, or to a board you share. You agree to them with the rest of these terms when you make your Studio account.
- What you add is still yours.
- You give the project's owner and AYF permission to use it, change it and build on it as part of this game, including in the finished game if it is published, with your name credited the way the project credits its team.
- That permission continues for the game if you leave the project, because a game cannot be taken apart once it is built.
- You confirm that what you add is yours to give, or marked "just for ideas".
Submission terms
These apply when a project's owner sends the game to us.
- We read every game we are sent. We may ask questions, ask for changes, or decide not to build it, and we say why. Sending a game does not mean we will build it.
- If we approve it, AYF builds a first version from your board. We write the code, using AI coding tools on AYF's own computers. Your board is used only to review, build, test and improve your game.
- Builds in development can be played by your testers through a link. A build only appears in the Under Development library if you choose that. A build that is not in the library is unlisted, not private: anyone with its link can play it.
- A game is published only when its owner asks us to, from the project's page in the Studio. Everyone is credited by the name they chose in the Studio.
- The owner confirms that the board is the team's own work, and that anything taken from elsewhere has permission or is marked "just for ideas".
Testing
- Testers need a Studio account, and join through a link from the game's creator.
- When you test, we record how long you play each build and on what kind of device, so the creator knows whether testing is done. Your feedback goes to the project's owner and editors, and to AYF, under your Studio name.
- Write feedback you would be happy to hear about your own game. We may hide feedback that is unkind, and testers who look like the same person may not count.
Reports and decisions
- Every comment, piece of feedback and project has a Report button. You can also email games@areyoufaster.com.
- We look at every report. We may hide content, remove someone from a project, close a project or suspend an account. If we do, we tell the person affected unless that would put someone at risk.
- If you disagree with a decision we made, email us and say why. We will look at it again and tell you the outcome.
Ending
- You can delete your account in Settings. Close any project you own first, or ask us to. Feedback you gave stays under your Studio name unless you ask us to remove it.
- We can close the Studio, or change these terms. If we change them, we tell account holders first.
How we use your information in the Studio is in the Studio privacy notice.
