Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to play, design and make games here. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What you can change
- Settings (the gear in the top bar): light or dark, three text sizes, less motion, higher contrast, sound on or off. Games made with our Starter follow these too.
- Everything on the site works with a keyboard. In a game, press Esc to pause; the pause menu always has Leave game.
- The Studio works without dragging: every card has a "Move to" menu.
- The game design worksheet prints in large print.
What we know does not work yet
- Games are drawn as pictures, so a screen reader cannot read what happens inside a game. Each game page describes the game and its controls in text.
- Name That Noise shows every noise as a pattern, so it can be played with the sound off. The other Starter games need you to see the screen.
How we test
Every page is checked with automated accessibility tests (axe) in Chrome, Firefox and Safari's engines, and by keyboard. We have not yet finished a full test with screen readers; when we have, we will say so here.
Asking for help
If something does not work for you, email games@areyoufaster.com and tell us the page or game. We reply within five working days. At studio sessions, tell us what you need when you book.
