Studio privacy notice
The short version
- A Studio account needs your email address and a Studio name. Nothing else.
- Other people see your Studio name, never your email. Only the people on a project see its board and comments.
- No adverts, no tracking, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.
- You can delete your account yourself, in Settings.
Who we are
The Studio is run by Are You Faster CIC (AREYOUFASTER CIC), company number 16536715, registered office Unit 82a, James Carter Road, Mildenhall, IP28 7DE. We decide how your information is used. Email games@areyoufaster.com about anything on this page.
What we keep
| What | Why | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address, whether you have confirmed it, and your password (held by Google's sign-in service in a form nobody can read back, including us). The same sign-in works for SOLVED on danielbracher.com | So you can sign in, and so we can send the emails you choose in Settings. | Only you, and AYF when we need to contact you |
| Your Studio name, that you said you are 18 or over, the version of the terms you agreed to, your email choices and when you joined | To run your account and show who did what on a project. | Your Studio name: people on your projects, and creators of games you test |
| Your projects: the boards, pictures (shrunk to a small preview), text you import, comments, who is on each project and what they can do | So you and your team can design the game together. | The people on that project, and AYF |
| If you save a score: the name you choose for scoreboards, and your best score on each board | To show the game's scoreboards. | Everyone, on the game's page |
| The agreements the owner ticks when sending a game (the submission terms, and that the work is the team's own) and when they ticked them | As a record of the permission you gave. | The project's owner, and AYF |
| What a project's owner sends us: a copy of the board, and a pitch request if they make one | To review the game and, if we approve it, build it. | AYF |
| Testing: that you joined a test and through which link, how long you played each build, how many times you started it, and whether on a phone, tablet or computer | So creators and AYF know whether a game has been tested enough to publish. | The project's owner and editors, and AYF |
| Feedback you give, with your Studio name and the build it is about | So the creator can improve the game. | The project's owner and editors, and AYF |
| Updates about your projects, and reports you send us | To tell you what happened, and to keep the Studio safe. | You; reports only AYF |
| The time of your last comment, invitation and similar actions | So nobody can flood a project. | Nobody looks at it; the Studio checks it automatically |
The games themselves run on a separate website with no sign-in, so a game never sees who you are.
Emails
We do not send update emails yet. When we do, they will go only to you, about your own projects, when you have chosen that in Settings. The Studio never emails an address someone types in.
Where it is kept, and who helps us
The Studio runs on Google Firebase. Your information is stored in Google's data centre in London, and Google handles sign-in and delivers the pages. When we build a game we have approved, we use AI coding tools on AYF's own computers; what they are given is the copy of the board, never your email address.
How long we keep it
- Your account details: until you delete your account.
- Projects, with their boards, comments, testing records and feedback: until the owner asks us to delete the project. We do that within one month of being asked.
- A published game's records (who made it and the agreements): for as long as the game is published and six years after, as evidence of permission to publish it.
- Updates in your Studio: 90 days. Reports: six months after they are closed.
- Scores: until you ask us to remove them. A daily board's scores stay with that day's board.
Our reasons for using it
To provide the Studio you signed up for (a contract with you). To keep it safe and stop misuse, and to keep testing records accurate (our legitimate interests). For emails, your choice in Settings, which you can change at any time.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email games@areyoufaster.com and we reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
